I’ve posted several times about the Hubs and my adventures in learning to sleep together. I think we’re just having trouble adjusting to having someone else in the bed. That and Wyatt gets tired a lot earlier than I do.
I’m pleased to announce that things have been looking up. No, we aren’t both sleeping peacefully all night long like babies (And since most babies don’t sleep all night long, I’ve never really understood that expression. I think they’re fairly restless sleepers sometimes), but we are seemingly more used to sharing the bed.
How do I know this?
When Wyatt wakes up in the middle of the night, he doesn’t always roll over away from me and shove the covers off on me or on the floor, he usually rolls onto his back for awhile (and he hasn’t even been snoring that badly!) and I roll over and curl up with my head on his chest. Or sometimes when he’s been sleeping with his back to me, he’ll wake up and roll over to be the big spoon, even giving me a tight hug.
It might not seem like much, but it’s a fairly big deal when you consider that Wyatt’s usually pretty grumpy when he wakes up in the middle of the night (or the morning!). He doesn’t talk, he grunts, he doesn’t cuddle, he burrows himself into his own little sleeping spot and tries to ignore whatever thing woke him up in the first place. And after we got married, and I moved into the bed, that “thing” was usually me.
So, imagine my surprise when I was woken up by him cuddling up to me in the middle of the night.
Never mind the fact he still woke me up. I’d rather be woken up with a hug than an accidental kick in the shins.
Progress? I think so.
